Tailwind SmartBio links are excellent ways to get your Instagram profile visitors to visit your actual blog or website. This post talks about what the SmartBio is, how to set it up, and how to use it for your advantage.

What is Tailwind?

Tailwind is my favorite social media scheduling platform. It allows me to bulk create posts and pins for Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. I pay $120/year per account for The Tiny Twenty-Something Instagram and Pinterest. What is the Tailwind SmartBio Link?

When you get a Tailwind account, you also get a tool that they call a SmartBio. Every Instagram account has a section in the profile that visitors can use to be directed to any website of your choosing. For blogging purposes, that is obviously a link to your website. But what if you’re publishing several posts a week and all lead to a different blog article? That is where the Tailwind SmartBio tool comes in handy!

The Tailwind SmartBio is a link generated by Tailwind and the URL automatically matches the username of your Instagram profile, but you are able to change that before you paste it in your Instagram profile link.

How to Set up your Tailwind SmartBio

On the left side of your Tailwind dashboard is a menu, at the bottom you will see the link icon that will direct you to a menu to customizing and setting up your SmartBio link.

Before you paste your claimed link into your Instagram profile, you need to do do a few things. Assuming you already have content to direct profile visitors to, click on Add New Button Link and start building a mini-menu of sorts. I like to start with my Home page being available, followed by my Blog, Services page, Resource Library, products and my Shop. You can also rearrange your menu by dragging the items up and down.

The next thing you need to do is customize your page by choosing the colors of your buttons, your page title and the Post Link Button Text. By default, it says Tap to Learn More! You can adjust that, and you can even customize it in future blog posts on individual posts while you’re working on scheduling posts. Some of the post link button texts I like to use are sampled from the title or subject of my blog post or website pages- something more eye-catching than Tap to Learn More!

Final Thoughts on Tailwind SmartBio Links

The way I see it, the Tailwind SmartBio link is an opportunity to create a mini-version of your actual website. Let’s face it, we are lazy creatures and sometimes you need to anticipate that behavior in order to convert website traffic from your Instagram account. Instead of having your blog or business website in the link in your bio, use the SmartBio link to create a mini-representation of your content. People can easily go to best or your featured blog posts, directly get forwarded to your affiliate links, and more!
